Poco a Poco, A Funny Name for a Wine!

We are very excited to offer this delicious 2018 Poco a Poco Sauvignon Blanc from the Porter-Bass Vineyards of Mendocino, California. Porter-Bass Vineyards is a biodynamic vineyard and winery. The vineyard is located nine miles from the Pacific Ocean between two ridge tops in the Russian River area.   This area allows the fog to drift to the foot of the vineyards thus cooling the vines in the summer.  The vineyards are also surrounded by redwood trees that help protect the vines from strong winds and contamination from other vineyards.

The farming practices are biodynamic to achieve the desired quality. Their deep concern about the environment is in their philosophy.  Biodynamic farming is a self-sustaining entity creating a healthy ecosystem that does not require any used of chemical or pesticides.  The vineyards have minimal contact to keep the vineyard’s ecosystem healthy and in balance.

The tasting profile of this Sauvignon Blanc on the nose has a perfume of starfruit, subtle tropical notes, and tropical flowers. On the palate, this wine is crisp and fresh with nice acidity showing exuberant tropical flavors of pineapple, guava, combined with citrus fruits. This winery only produces 450 cases of this wine.

This Sauvignon Blanc pairs well with our Creole spice calamari steak strips, Steakhouse Classic Shrimp Cocktail, Shrimp & Grits, and perhaps any of our delicious salads. Enjoy!
